It can be hard to know what plants are safe to put in your garden when you’re a pet owner, especially if you have cats and dogs. Having a bland garden with no plants will keep them from harm but doesn’t exactly make the most of your area. We have compiled a list of ten pet safe plants for your garden, so that you can spruce up your space, whilst protecting your pup!

Camelia

These flowering shrubs are sure to bring colour to your garden. They take a while to establish, but once they are firmly rooted, they will come back every year. Plus, they are non-toxic to horses, so if you’re worried about planting these in or around your paddock, there is no need!

This beautiful variety of basil can be used in cooking, as a garnish, or as the base for a delicious pesto. As well as this, it can also be a gorgeous addition to your garden: just make sure to give them plenty of water and let them enjoy the sun!

Dill is the perfect addition to sauces and salads and can also be used to help your cat’s upset stomach. This herb is an all-rounder, but make sure you give it room to grow – it gets bigger than you think!

Nasturtiums are a very versatile plant, whilst also being beautiful additions to any garden. They can be used as aphid traps in your vegetable garden, or as a perfect addition to any hanging basket or flower bed. Plus, their flowers are edible, and they smell divine!

Magnolia is usually seen as a large, stately tree, but also comes in some lovely bush varieties. Most magnolias offer spectacular pet safe flowers in pink, purple, or white, and do their best in full sun.
